Ellie’s February Collection

February 26th, 2013 · No Comments

Remember when I told you about PV Body?!  Well, at the time, the concept was to offer great high end label pieces at a bargain price.  I thought it was great, then.   My first order had two pieces form LUX that fit great and were put to use immediately.  Since last November, PV Body has now launched itself into it’s own product exclusively, called Ellie.  Each month the pieces are different but the price for two high quality workout items is still approximately $50.

For the month of February,  I was lucky to receive the Just Like Heaven t-shirt in pink and white and the Love Struck Leggings!  Ellie has created a product to love, especially if you’re a woman athlete who enjoys new products at a much lower than retail price.  My shirt material fits and feels the same as any of my other high quality workout tops and the I positively love the color.  The leggings are equally comfy, well fitting and the material feels great!  These pieces will be staples in my everyday workout collection and I can’t wait to see March’s Collection by Ellie!!

Go ahead and view the collection, you are going to love it!

Best Ever Swimwear for Women Athletes: NAYAD

December 10th, 2012 · No Comments

I have recently had the pleasure of testing out Nayad’s swimwear and I am in love. Not only are these pieces designed by women athletes, they are designed for us to be outside doing athletic things in them! NAYAD Made for Movement Swimwear can be personally designed by you! You can choose from 4 different styles of Bra Tops and at least 4 different styles of bottoms and then choose the colors you like. I chose the longer short bottom and the cross back sports bra top and they are perfect! It would be highly unlikely to run into another woman on the beach in the same suit as you! In comparison to other suits I own, this one fits snugly yet, still not revealing, and I can do more in it–such as handstands, sprinting or even lifting it I wanted! These suits will work great from the gym straight to the beach or surfboard!

To learn more about NAYAD swimwear, please click over here! Show your love by “liking” their Facebook page.

FTC- Much thanks to Kate Fox for giving me the opportunity to review your wonderful product! I love it! A NAYAD swimsuit was provided to me for purposes of review and the above opinions are my own.

5 Best Yoga Poses for Weightllifters

November 13th, 2012 · No Comments

During my Yoga Works training, we spent hours and hours studying the human body, how it works and why yoga can benefit every person– whether it be for stress management, exercise and just personal time.  Every single body is different and will have different needs, so for today’s post, I’d like to spend some time discussing the poses that I think weightlifters might benefit from.  No, I don’t think they need to go down and take a 1.5 hour power yoga class!  A power yoga class can be seriously intense and has hard on the body as an intense weightlifting session.   However, a few minutes spent either before or after a lifting session could be beneficial for the weightlifter.

This post is written from the viewpoint that anybody that is doing any lifting or high rep high intensity exercise will benefit from spending some time working on their tight areas.  I believe there are two areas in the body that will need the most help- the hips and back, particularly by doing the opposite of a squat.

In addition to working on your tight areas, most people doing any yoga would benefit from having certain props at home to enhance their practice.  Yoga Mad offers plenty of yoga blocks, straps and mats for you to check out.

The Five Most Important Poses

Garland Pose.   The pose looks and feels like the bottom of a squat.    It can help by opening working on the tight areas of the hip joint and feels really good.  I like to spend at least a minute or more in this pose.

High Lunge Position  This one, if done correctly, also looks like the bottom of the Split Jerk and for me it helps lengthen the front of my hip.

Strengtheners/Upper Back work such as Upward Facing Dog Pose, Locust Pose  These are highly valuable poses because they both strengthen the upper back as well as lengthen the front of the body.

Bridge Pose with it’s variations of a full backbend.  By far the hardest of all yoga poses for me is the full back bend.  I spend lots of time in bridge pose, squeezing blocks and pushing the top of my hips forward.  This pose along with camel pose can do wonders for tight hip people.

New: pv.Body

November 6th, 2012 · No Comments

How many of you think workout gear is expensive?  Are you willing to pay top dollar for something you love?  Technically, I am, if I know for a fact that I will love it and wear the heck out of it, I will pay retail for say, one hoodie.  However, for the most part, I shop the sales, discount pages, hunt the internet for discount prices, closeouts…you name it, I will do it all in the name of a brand name piece of workout gear.  I live in them, you know.

So, now, there is a new company named pv.Body that is doing all that research for us and has put together a really cool product.  You enter your workout style, color choices and sizes and for just $39.95, you can get a new outfit each month!  They are carrying brands such as Nike, Lululemon, LUX, and Hard Tail.  The only thing you don’t get to chose are the actual pieces that come in the mail.  My order came with a very nice pair of crops from LUX and a cute pink fitted tank from LUX.  It’s fun, really, to get a “surprise” in the mail.  This would be a great gift for any of your friends and I love how you can change your style to change the result you get in the mail.

You can now try pv.Body for 20% off  and I highly recommend it.

Happy Birthday, Lucy!

November 3rd, 2012 · 1 Comment

2008 was the first time I’d heard of Lucy Activewear.  I fell in love with it then, and I still love it now.  I recently got to visit an actual Lucy store during the CAF triathlon and as I walked through the store, I was admiring all the really soft cotton shirts, the textures of the running clothes and the styles of the yoga gear.

And, within a week or so of visiting the store, Lucy reached out to me for a product review! Yes, it’s my lucky day.

So, far this is my favorite piece of Lucy gear, the Get Up and Go Quarter Zip! I’ve worn it everyday since receiving it and have received multiple complements on the color and style of the shirt. I love the ruching on the sides, the thumb hole and the soft cotton feel of the shirt. This shirt has been a perfect for wearing over my workout gear on cold mornings and it’ll look great with jeans as well.  I can’t wait to wear it again!

Lucy is having a sale of 25% off today only in celebration of their Birthday! Check it out!

FTC- The shirt was provided for purposes of review and the above opinion is my own.
