February 17th, 2013 · No Comments
Hello Readers!
As always I’m thrilled to be sharing with you today about Merrell. I have had a long time love affair with their shoes and now I have new reasons to enjoy this company as they have designed some pretty stylish new workout gear. The colors are great, the styles are perfect for running or cross training and they have some unique designs in both tops and bottoms.
FTC- Merrell provided me with some of these items for purposes of review and the above opinion is my own. Thank you, Merrell!!

Get the Moms Together!
February 7th, 2013 · No Comments
I firmly believe that women need other women to talk to, be social with, workout with and generally do things that they (I) would NEVER do on their own. A group of women working together with a common goal is far more rewarding than working solo. Also, working in a group situation can be incredibly motivating. When I lift heavy weight, I always enjoy working with other women who are stronger than me who might be able to push me past my usual limits. When I was a stay-at-home mom, I needed other moms to be social with. Now that I work out of the home, I have to make special efforts to do things socially with other women that’s even on a very irregular basis! However, when I do get the chance to “get out” and talk girl talk for a while, I always feel better afterwards.
An example would be going to Purple Easel to paint! It was a great girls night out and although I am a terrible painter, it was still really fun! Another example, would be a book club or a workout group or a just simply a girls night out where you get all dressed up and fancy! One of my friends just started a business called Stella and Dot and the products look amazing!
The case being that whatever you choose to do on your girls night out, it should be fun, social and rewarding. So, I’m pleased to announce my friend, Courtney, has her own business which operates like a trunk show or an online trunk show called Stella and Dot! I love the concept, products and I think this is a great idea for moms looking for flexibility and an income, especially for those of you who are particularly interested in fashion and style.
Let us know what you think! Do you have a regularly scheduled girls night out? Do you enjoy going shopping or having a personal stylist? I would!
Here’s a look at some of Stella and Dot’s products!

Shoe Review: Merrell Bare Access 2
November 2nd, 2012 · 1 Comment
Merrell does incredibly well with their shoe design! They have yet another barefoot style Multi-Sport on the market now called, Bare Access 2, which I am happy to share is perfect. These shoes have a low sole, bright colors and can be worn for many different activities. On the Merrell’s website, they are listed under both Barefoot as well as Sport-Trainers; as they are a good introduction to a barefoot style of running, yet, still have the stability of a traditional shoe. I’ve been wearing mine for teaching Phys Ed (my students love the color) and find them to be comfortable and adaptable for sports such as tennis and volleyball. I can also run the track with them fairly well as it forces me to run on the balls of my feet more. They would also work great for conditioning workouts that include jumping rope, box jumps and rope climbs {even better as there is just a bid of tread on these than my first pair of Merrell’s.)
The Merrell Bare Access 2 come in a variety of colors for both men and women. To learn more about Merrell, please click here. I can honestly say that these shoes are wonderful and highly useful!
FTC- These shoes were given to me for the purposes of review and I am thankful! The above opinion is my own.

Are you loyal to one brand of athletic clothes? What is your favorite “Go To” dress when it’s time to go out? These dresses are just a few offered from companies such as Carve Design, Horny Toad, Lole Women and Lululemon. I’d love to hear about other brands that offer dresses for the athletic body!

She’s on her second round of fundraising and has only 9 days left! Please drop a $5 pledge in her basket. It does us all good to fund women/mom owned projects that will benefit us all. I’m glad she’s brave enough to ask for what she wants. Are you?

Dresses for Mother’s Day
May 10th, 2012 · 1 Comment
To know me in person is to know that I literally wear workout clothes 5 days a week. I start my day off in crops and tank tops and finish it in shorts and tank tops usually with a workout squeezed in somewhere…On weekends, I’m left with one solitary pair of jeans that fit my humungous quads and a sports bra and tank top because I’m boring that way. However, it’s hot here in Southern California now and I need some dresses.
Like, by tomorrow morning, when my six year old serves me coffee and eggs for the Mother’s Day tea. He told me I need to wear a dress! I’m not a dress girl!! I look silly in dresses, my arms are huge, my legs are huge…. I don’t carry off the usual feminine dresses very well.
There are some brands that are now creating dresses for the athletic type body, thank you, Shabby Apple, but, they are still super frilly dresses! I found a few that are possibilities by Horny Toad or Isis or Lole.
Anybody have any other suggestions for “go to ” dresses for this athletic mom?!
