SoCal Regionals Recap!

Pictured above is me in a full depth overhead squat with sixty-five pounds over my head. This is my favorite photo! This picture was taken during Day 2 of the Southern California CrossFit Regionals! I’m still completely overwhelmed that I was on the team and that WE made it to Day 3!! That means that with this workout of 250 Chest to Bar Pull-ups, 250 Kettlebell Swings, 250 Double Unders, 250 Overhead Squats, we managed to beat out several other teams to pull ahead into the the final ten teams in Southern California.

Yep, that’s me getting those chest to bar pull-ups done!! Before this competition I could only do one or two at a time! On this day, I was getting 5’s! Whoo Hoo!

Here is our cheering section surrounding us six athletes! We have an awesome support section!!

Day 3 workout for me was the “chipper”. 20 Calorie Row, 30 Burpees, 30 Ground to Overhead with 35 Pound Dumbbells, 30 Toes To Bar, 100 Feet of Overhead Lunges with a 25 pound plate over my head, finishing with a 50 foot sprint. We did this with a team of four. No person could advance a station until it was clear. This workout was BRUTAL. And, please excuse my language, but those 30 Ground to Overhead with 35 pound dumbbells was freaking HORRIBLE. {70 pounds is nearly 1/2 my body weight…} These ate me alive. If you look at photos of other athletes doing this, it didn’t look easy for them either, lol…

There were SIX amazing athletes on our team, I’m just one small part of it. And, we have three seriously strong ones but we all put our heart, blood and tears into these workouts and came out feeling really good about our experience. CrossFit CDR finished 10th in Southern California in our first attempt to reach the CrossFit Games and it can only get better from here! I’m am truly thankful for having this opportunity to compete in this competition–cuz it was a blast!
