How hard are you willing to work?

August 2nd, 2010 · No Comments

Tomorrow, I have the amazing pleasure of doing “FRAN” as our workout. For those of you who don’t know, Fran is a named WOD (workout of the day). It is a benchmark WOD that cross fit uses to measure your progress. In a six month period, I’ve done Fran once, I think.
So, what is this particular workout anyways?!
21 Thrusters and Pull-ups.
15 Thrusters and Pull-ups.
9 Thrusters and Pull-ups.

That’s it. The weight for the thrusters is 65 pounds for girls and 95 for men. The entire workout is completely do-able as far as my strengths go….We’ve done lots of thrusters at 65 and 75. What’s so hard about it? It’s that I have TO GO REALLY FAST/REALLY HARD for the entire WOD. My PR (since I’ve only done it once is 8:24- nothing special) and I’d really like to see about going under 7 minutes. A good time for the FAST/Elite girls is under 4 minutes!! Demo here.

What’s so hard about that?

It’s a total mental battle. Don’t drop the weights, don’t drop off the bar, don’t get a drink, don’t think, just go go go go go go….

Wish me luck!

Edited to add that I got a minute and a half PR!! Whoo Hooo..New time is 6:46 and I know I can do better…just gotta breathe!
