What’s the best way to get dinner on the table when you have two young ones running around?
Do you turn on Sponge Bob and go about your business? Do you let them play and hope everyone gets along? Do you set up the “art table” and let them explore their creativity side? Or do you just get out the extra aprons and get them in the kitchen with you? Admittedly, I’ve used almost all of the above methods to cook dinner with the exception of Sponge Bob and I’ve found that getting them into the kitchen cooking is the “Best Method” for my family. Doesn’t matter what I am cooking, if they get a job, they are happy. And, my big kid (see below) is all about neatness and precision.
Tonight’s experiment: Kale Chips. {Recipe taken from Steamy Kitchen}
1. Wash, dry and remove leaves from stem. Yes, he’s holding a big knife. I’m watching, I promise!
2. Place chopped pieces into bowl and coat leaves with olive oil.
3. Bake at 350 degrees for 15-20 minutes (do not let turn brown on the edges), sprinkle with sea salt and eat.
SUCCESS! Amazingly, both kids loved them!
If you have a recipe or a technique you use to get dinner on the table, please share it!
