The last two Saturday’s I was able to participate in free Cross Fit workouts in my local park. They have been intense, fun, and QUICK. The actual “work” part of the workout has been only about 15 minutes- but it is an all out effort during those minutes. In fact, at the end, you are gasping for air and wanting to just drop down on the ground with your tongue hanging out. I dragged my two best fit moms to the park with me last weekend and they both loved it! In fact, they loved it so much that they were willing to sign up for the Foundation Classes (there are five). And we started them today.
Today, we learned three basic moves all involving bar and overhead pressing- except, I can’t remember all the names! Ha ha ha….it was early. Anyway, after we worked on the skill portion of the lesson we moved into the main portion of the workout which was a Tabata workout. This involved 20 seconds of work followed by 10 seconds of rest. We did 8 sets of each of the following workouts: Push press, Push-ups, Sit-Ups, and Squats. This was serious WORK. Thankfully, we (my buddy and I) could both do the work, just not all that fast. Object of Tabata is to go as hard as you can!
Rachel, co-owner of Cross Fit was our trainer this morning and was taking photos!
That’s me on the left!
