Eye Candy: Dutch Style Bicycles

OHHH BOY!! I would love some slick looking bike to commute around town on!  The Burley trailer would still fit on the back fork (?), and on the Yakima racks, and  I think  it be fun just to have a playful bike?! Hubby thinks I’d complain on hills- but this bike has 8 gears…what am I going to complain about?  The fact that the bike will weigh less than my mountain bike, it’s more for around the town and it’s SWEET looking.  Highly likely that bike commuting would get a whole lot more frequent, if I was decked on one of these. {hint, hint, hint – Paul}  Heck, it’s been almost 9 years for the mountain bike, maybe it’s time for a replacement.  Not that I plan on giving up mountain biking, just want to add to my collection!

If we lived in Germany, I’d be wanting one of these!!!!

Or check out the Ticno Collection by Electra!?  More sweetness going on there.

And, then, there is the “Amazing Family Tandem”.  Holy Moly.  One Adult, plus one, two or three kids!  Wow.  Can’t imagine pedaling one of those, but, it looks like a blast.

On a side note:

Best bike ever to use to teach a kid!  We used this style (not brand) to teach our kids how to ride.  These things can FLY.  Your kid will be pedaling a regular bike faster than you can blink.

Life is some much sweeter on a bike!

I would love a lighter bike (rather than my Mountain Bike) for getting around town but I would hate to give up my gears. Maybe a lighter bike is why my neighbor is always passing me. I also love the trailer in front so you can watch the kids.

Check out the Trek Belleville WSD, you can order it from your LBS:

It’s part of their ECO line…check it out!

Also look at Electra as well. The Ticino has 18speeds. An 8 speed as you mentioned above may not be the greatest for hills – if you are talking Sunset in Redlands or just pulling the kids around. Be nice to the knees! :)

No way, I’m the proponent of a heavy bike (not some light weight 15lb wimp bike) for a good workout. I’ve got a Schwinn Varsity and it will give you the quad workout you want. The sucker is 35lb w/o anything on it.

So, if you want a workout, get somewhere, and a cheaper alternative, a nice old Chicago classic 10 speed would do it (hills, schmills). And it’s better than the mountain bike!

I’d be inclined to play ball with you one this subject. Which is not something I usually do! I enjoy reading a post that will make people think. Also, thanks for allowing me to speak my mind!
