Ever heard of Purna yoga?
I have been lucky enough to enjoy yoga twice now at the local gym here. It’s amazing how well these teachers have taught the classes and how happy my kids have been in the childcare! Yesterday, my teacher, Candace taught an alignment based yoga class in a “hot room”. She had just finished a 200 hour training called Purna Yoga. With just a little research, I learned that Purna yoga was founded by Aadil Palkhivala and Mirra. Aadil has a fascinating background and bio and you can read about it here. And I found an interview with Candace on their website! Amazing way technology can bring us all closer together. Anyway, the class was unique. She taught a warm-up series that I had never done before with a lot of movement with breath – reverse table to Dandasana…not hard just had to think a lot. Then we moved on to an Iyengar style of yoga which means no flow, one pose then another and all are super hard cause they are held for a looooooooooong time. For those of you who are new to yoga, I am beginning to think that Iyengar yoga is the BEST way to get started in yoga. Because their is so much focus on alignment and with the use of props, anybody can get into the pose! Wonderful class..as long as my family can swing it, I will be there everyday!
On to the fun part of my day:
Visiting the Air Museum in Seattle
Bumper cars in the fun zone at the Space Needle
Fooling around at the Space Needle
In front of the Music Center
View from the Space Needle!
