Giveaway: CamelBak’s Stainless-Steel Better Bottle

June 14th, 2009 · 143 Comments

Last year when CamelBak came out with the new BPA free bottles, I had one away. This year, they have a new stainless-steel bottle and I have one to giveaway!

Here are the details:

  • Stainless-steel bottle is naturally BPA free, stain resistant and taste free; no coatings or liners are used on the interior
  • CamelBak’s Big Bite valve eliminates awkward drips and spills; just bite and sip and the beverage flows through the valve—you don’t even need to tip the bottle to drink
  • But if lifting and tipping is your preferred method, no problem; just remove the straw inside
  • Big Bite valve has an articulating stem, so when not in use it folds down next to the bottle and stays clean
  • Carry the integrated handle in the crook of a finger, or connect it to a pack or waistbelt with a small carabiner (sold separately)

HOW TO WIN?

Simply leave a comment with one healthy living tip {with your email address} and you will be entered to win.  Winner will be drawn at Random on June 19th at 9pm P.S.T.

(Sorry, U.S. Residents only)

just realized how much better organic peanut butter is. if you read skippy label – much more than peanuts in it. but if you get a healthy natural brand, it will have peanuts and oil and that is it. and it is just as yummy, my child loves it just the same. feener44atgmail.com

Plan out your meals in advance and bring food with you. This way you can have food ready when you get hungry so you will not make bad decisions. Low blood sugar leads to hunger and hunger will cause you to think just about anything sounds good to eat.

i have a huge sweet tooth, lately i have been halving cake recipes to make only one cake, cutting the cake in half and frosting it like a normal cake. you end up with a half a cake but still get the “layed” cake

Eat 2-3 cloves of garlic a day. It helps lower cholesterol and blood pressure and may be a cancer preventative.

When you go to the movies, instead of filling up on greasy (and expensive!) popcorn and sugary sodas, bring along some trail mix and a bottle of water (perhaps a CamelBak bottle?). You’ll save money and have a much healthier snack, too.

precook what you can ahead of time so that on lazy days it is still feasible to have a home cooked meal- like making meat ahead of time for turkey tacos- small things like that- freeze and store so its already done for an easy meal…triple cook and spearate and freeze

  • 8 Katie R // Jun 14, 2009 at 3:27 pm

Incorporate small amounts of exercise into all that you do. Do squats while unpacking the dishwasher; do calf raises while waiting in line; at the store, use a basket (or two!) instead of pushing a cart; park at the back of the parking lot; car dance…little bits of movement all day long add up!

When you wake up in the a.m. put your running shoes on, even if you’re not going anywhere. Just being dressed for exercise makes me feel more energized as I go about household chores, taking care of the kids, etc. I get so much more done, and I’m much less likely to veg out in front of the tv or computer.

When you want something crispy & salty make Kale Chips (instead of potato chips). Wash & Dry fresh Kale, tear off the stalk into bite-sized pieces. Put pieces in a large bowl and toss lightly with Olive Oil and Sea Salt (you don’t need much). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and bake in a single layer at 350 for about 10 minutes, or until the edges get crispy (I like mine to even get a little brown). Hint: Don’t use wilty Kale, they won’t crisp up.

Don’t ever give up on yourself. If you cheat on your diet, have a lazy week (or month or year, even!) where you skipped exercising and ate whatever you wanted. Give yourself a break, and don’t let that stop you from slowly but surely getting back to doing what you know is right for a healthy life. Consider that break a reward for all the hard work you have done in the past and will do in the future and get right back on track, no matter how long it has been. Know that you took the break you deserved or had the free for all fun you needed to feel good at that time. Skip the guilt and pick up where you left off!

Keep fruits out in a bowl on the counter rather than in the refrigerator. You are much more likely to eat them that way.

Cut up celery and carrot strips and keep them in a container of water in the refrigerator. Easy to grab and nice and crisp to snack on.

I’ve been trying to live more healthy lately. Its hard though because it seems like everything healthy costs twice as much. The best tip I’ve found so far is to buy raw materials and make your own healthy dinners instead of buying premade healthy dinners (or lunches). It takes a little more time, but it guarantees that you know exactly what is in your food and that its fresh. It also generally costs less. I even do this with simple peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. Its still more expensive than buying overprocessed, overpackaged, oversalted, foods and snacks, but you’ll reap the rewards in the long term.

    Thanks for the great contest!

always buy the brands with less or no fat. especially if you are buying something like potato chips, buy them baked not fried.

Stop buying bottled water and “make your own” from the tap or a filtered pitcher and drink from a stainless steel bottle. And try to drink at least 64 oz. a day.
