Hydration on the GO!!

May 28th, 2009 · 5 Comments

Just a quick post to let you know about a new drink I’ve been sampling! Heard rumors about it via Twitter and now I’ve had the opportunity to try out 4 flavors, and I have truly enjoyed. Small, compact and easy to use anywhere, these tablets are the perfect solution to a hot, sweaty afternoon in the sun. Perfect for athletes, or just regular folks who enjoy flavored water.

Check it out:

I sampled Citrus Fruit, Lemon-Lime, Kola, Tri-Berry, and Orange Ginger. Drop in Ice Cold Water, wait two minutes and enjoy!

what’s in nuun?

  • four essential electrolytes: sodium, potassium, magnesium & calcium
  • a nice, refreshing flavour to remind you to keep drinking
  • a bit of fizzy stuff to ensure it dissolves quickly without having to mix or shake
  • a smidgen of colour in the form of riboflavin (vitamin b2) & beet juice depending on the flavour
  • a sprinkling of love

With my current position as a outdoor physical educator, I’d drop these tablets in my water bottle and go teach my classes! I drank a lot more water this way than when I haul my big bottle around. It’s a nice flavorful change of pace. If they allowed water bottles in yoga, I’d drink it there too! The combination of ingredients may help prevent cramping if you are prone to cramp (I am- at least in yoga), so I have been drinking a bottle before class to see if it would help. The flavor is really mild {only 2 calories and no sugar}. My husband wasn’t too keen on the taste, but, I liked it.

You can read more about nuun here. One tube that has 12 tablets = 24 servings and will run you $6.50 on REI website or if you want to try a trifecta of flavors- it is $19.50.

Hopefully you all can find this locally near you!

I second your recommendation. I’ve just started using it and really like it – just a light touch of flavor, not too sweet and overwhelming. Very easy to drink.

My mom didn’t care for the taste, but I kind of like the light touch. I got to sample a few flavors at the last marathon expo I was at which was great. I get mine at REI.
