Lotus. The roots of a lotus are in the mud, the stem grows up through the water, and the heavily scented flower lies pristinely above the water, basking in the sunlight. This pattern of growth signifies the progress of the soul from the primeval mud of materialism, through the waters of experience, and into the bright sunshine of enlightenment. (resource)

Today, I found this really cool website that speaks to my athletic womanly soul. Each piece of jewelry has been designed by a woman athlete, Bronwen Lodato. Whether she’s traveling in foreign countries or teaching yoga, she is an artist who envisions things in terms of how could she make a piece of jewelry remind her of that place (my impression). And believes as I do that one piece of jewelry can upgrade your favorite dress from plain to outstanding. Each piece seems to be inspired by a special place..some pieces that I particularly loved include the Bouno Fortuna Earrings, MADS earrings, and the HERA necklace.

The lotus roots in mud and rises and blossoms into one of the most exquisite forms of natural beauty; in the same way, women rise from adversity with strength and courage to become ever more beautiful and wise.” (Link)

We are the lotus. Can you identify with the lotus? Do you have another special flower or symbol that speaks to you?

That’s really cool…. I didn’t know that about the lotus.

The sunflower is kind of special to me, since it stands for warmth, longevity and nourishment – all adjectives that speak to me.
