7th Generation Giveaway

April 26th, 2009 · 168 Comments

7th-g

7Th Generation would love for you to try out their products! I have been working with their products for about a month now and I love them all (except the paper towels {too scratchy}). For the purpose of this review, I spent some time on their website and learned a lot. In the past year, I have slowly been shifting towards “green” products and have a few favorites. And 7th Generation has developed products for your house, baby, laundry, feminine care products and dishwashing…all designed to be non-toxic, safe for the environment and for YOU.

Some things I noticed when using the products is that there is almost NO SCENT. This is a good thing as far as I am concerned- scented products give me headaches. The dish soap did not make my hands turn into dry, cracked scaly nightmares and my dishes are clean!

HOW DO YOU WIN?

There will be two winners- the grand prize will win the 7th Generation gift basket pictured above and the second winner will be the recipient of Naturally Clean by Jeffrey Hollender. Please click over to their site and look around. What did you learn on their site? What product would you buy or already buy?

Winner will be chosen at Random {and Announced} on May 1, 2009, 9PM PST.

I use their shower cleaner and LOVE it, a friend of mine told me about it a year or so ago, and I have never gone back.

I think I would like the shower cleaner. But all the products look interesting. I learned that dishwashers are generally more efficient than hand-washing and if you own one, make sure to run it only when it’s full, and don’t bother rinsing dishes first in the sink.

I’m bad at that, rinsing before putting in the dishwasher. Can’t help it LOL

I would like to try the Baby Laundry Detergent. It looks pure and gentle and natural. I want what’s best for my baby and for the environment. I saw on the site that May is National Pregnancy Awareness Month. Blessings.

I currently have their dish liquid and like it. I’d love to try the laundry liquid soap too. I learned that May is National Pregnancy Awareness month, but unfortunately my pregnancy days are over.

Palm oil, which is used as a surfactant, is produced by clearcutting trees in countries such as Indonesia. Tropical forests are essential to our planet for creating helping to clear our atmosphere of CO2. The problem has become prevalent to the point where we really need to cut out the use of palm oil so that there is no more deforestation.

I like all their products, but my favorite natural products are laundry detergent. Thanks.

  • 10 Sara // Apr 26, 2009 at 5:13 pm

I have been working on slowly switching over to more green and more natural products and this would be a great help in accomplishing that.

I use the 100% recycled toilet paper. Virgin trees are cut down to make most brands of toilet paper and all we do is wipe our behinds with it. Terrible waste. This brand is softer than other brands of recycled toilet paper that I have tried.

I learned that I should use chlorine-free dishwasher detergent because the chlorine in conventional detergents is easily vaporized by hot dishwasher water and then released into your home’s air. With that in mind, I’d love to try their dishwasher detergent!

What a cool company! I love that they run the gambit on green products: it would be nice to get all of my household items from one company. (Too bad about the paper towels, though.)

I would have to try their feminine products. The other green products I’ve tried don’t “fit right,” so I would want to see if this one worked.

    Where do bubbles come from?
    –Cheryl Longway/Foam, MT
To make a bubble you need a material that, when spread in a thin film, won’t pull itself into a tiny drop (like water pulling itself into a bead on a waxed surface). This tendency to pull into a drop is called surface tension, and water has a high surface tension.

Adding a surfactant (SURFace ACTive AgeNT) to water reduces the surface tension so a bubble can form without collapsing itself into a drop.

Reducing the surface tension of water also allows the water to mix with oil and grease, which is why surfactants are used for cleaning!

  • 143 joanna smith // May 1, 2009 at 1:23 pm

Wow, you can learn so much about greening up your act just by taking the time to research and read all the useful information posted on the Seventh Generation website! Kudos to them for making it such a fantastic resource for us! I learned that “according to the Native Forest Network, the average mail recipient receives some 560 pieces of junk mail a year, and simply tosses almost half of it. That’s adds up to 4.5 million tons of unrequested bulk mail sent each year, or the destruction of 100 million trees. Fortunately, there are steps you can take to dramatically reduce the mayhem in your mailbox: To stop the flow of credit-related offers, request that credit reporting agencies, the chief source of names for mailing lists, stop sharing your information”. I am going to see what measures I can take to get our names off of many, many mailing lists that generate traditional mail and catalogs!

I have not tried any of the Seventh Generation products as of yet, and I am chomping at the bit to do so! I’d love to use the Chlorine-Free Baby Wipes on my baby daughter, they sound wonderful and I would use them all the time! Thanks so much for the opportunity to enter.
