You have been dormant lately. That knot in my left hamstring and IT band have been talking to me a lot lately. Yeah, maybe, I should incorporate more stretching into my already packed schedule. What’s one more thing, right?
Don’t get me wrong, I love yoga. My body craves yoga. It thanks me when I get in child’s pose or pidgeon pose and it begs me “stay here, stay here!!” don’t move. But, I do. Time is limited.
I know I am going to pay for this because this weekend I will begin my Yoga Works Teacher Training program. I have no idea what’s in store for me, I just know that I will likely be the most inflexible girl in the class. Bulging quadriceps do not lead to graceful triangle pose or bow pose or any pose for that matter.
How to introduce myself? Hi, I’m a athlete with immovable hips, can you please help me?
So, with this in mind, I’m going to set a very small progress goal for myself starting today. 3 poses per day. So, I am now signing off to begin.
Anybody care to join me? Or have small progress type goals to share?

… and does Yoga help to improve running performance? I never tried but it sounds very interesting.

Rachel, you’ll love teacher training. Black Knight, YES, yoga helps with everything you do, including running. With yoga, you’ll learn to be more focused, and the physical benefits are many: strength, flexibility, balance, better breathing.

I have a 5 to 10 minute stretching routine I try to do at least once a day but twice is better. I have been slacking off a bit but I need to stretch. I do downward dog, forward bed (standing and seated), swan pose and something similar to stretch my psoas, and some IT band stretches. I would love to do more but as you said – where is the time!

I haven’t taken a yoga class in years….I don’t even remember what those poses are. Do you have a yoga pose section on your blog?!

I am doing daily stretching, but there is something special about when I take time for a yoga video…I don’t know maybe it’s just the tone of voice of the instructor very relaxing
