Random things that have been working lately…
1. My kids’ lunches that I MUST pack daily. Don’t know why I didn’t think of this before…One container for all foods. Lunch meat, cheese, carrots and grapes or apples. Simple, but easy to assemble and they are happy!
2. Greek Yogurt.
3. Cottage Cheese with 1 tablespoon of jelly or jam. (Yes, I know you’ve all done this for years, but, I am SLOW to change my ways (ha ha ha)!
4. Thinking of buying Fiber One to throw in as a crunchy snack that will have an effect.
5. Hard Boiled Egg Whites with Hummus
Remember Lori, owner of Supernoots? Children have the power to decide what they are going to eat and then get to move their magnets on the game board. My kids have enjoyed playing it!

I make wonderful creations of protein and veggies; such as salads with tons of veggies, baby greens, and sliced almonds. Add in some avocado and dried cranberries and I’m sustained for the next few hours! I also love my raw unsalted almond butter with celery. I cut the celery into bite sized pieces and put the almond butter in a tiny Tupperware container to dip and eat as a snack at work or while driving. Eating creatively, as if I were feeding a child, keeps me really enjoying my meals and snacks, and staying off of desserts and breads.

My healthy eating tip….
Do it for a “28 day challenge” and usually it sticks after that for most people.
I’m in the middle of a 28 day green smoothie challenge….day #12! I’m loving it so far.
I want those coupons!

I have gotten to the point in life where when shopping- no matter how free or lowcost- hence after holiday sales..if its not good for you- its not a good deal so I jsut don’t bring it home becuase some have no self control when it comes to quanity- if its there they eat it. If I do bring something home I hide it or freeze it before they see it

I find it’s easier to eat healthy most of the time but don’t be such a stick in the mud that you never have any “fun” food. Maybe the weekend, or one day a week, have what you want, just make good choices the rest of the week.

I make healthy eating a habit by meal planning and keeping stock of ready-to-go healthy snacks (fruits and veggies). If I plan out our meals ahead of time we are less likely to order take-out, grab something on the run, or make poor decisions (the dreaded vending machine!). We tend to eat organic, eat whole grains, and choose high fiber foods. I also make my son’s lunch and try to incorporate healthy choices but make it fun by cutting things into shapes, leaving him a small piece of dark chocolate, or leaving a fun note. Taking a daily muiltivitamin and exercising helps out healthy lifestyle as well!

I make healthy eating a habit by taking a couple of hours every week to prep healthy snacks, nibbles and bites so they’re as easy to grab as a bag of chips used to be.
55 Sylvie W. // Mar 21, 2009 at 3:27 pm
Instead of going all out and immediately eliminating all fats, sugars, etc . . . make the changes gradually by blending them with the “old” foods.
Here’s an example for a furry member of the family, my cats, that translates well to the human family. My cats were eating regular dry food but they reached an age that called for the senior food. So, I gave them a mixture of 75% old food and 25% senior food and slowly increased the senior percentage until they are completely eating their senior food with relish.

Okay, so my secret to a happy and healthy lifestyle is a little different, and I think you ladies would appreciate it!
Since giving birth to my first son, I had trouble getting rid of the baby weight. A good friend of mine suggested to me a different tactic to regain my old figure back.
She said, every time she accomplishes something that is special in her life, ie- weight loss, promotion..she rewards herself with a piece of jewelry. Thinking it was silly at first, I attempted her technique anyway, and found that it is indeed rather very rewarding! After a few months, I started cutting off 5, 10, 15, 20 lbs! Now, I have a piece of jewelry for every time I hit my 5 lb. goal. It’s so wonderful to get to wear jewelry that has sentimental value and a rewarding significance. For me, it’s a positive reminder that anything is possible!
Also, while searching online for jewelry sites, I found this great website – Jewelry Information Center (www.JIC.org). It’s a site that has TONS of stuff about jewelry (gift giving guides, trend updates, history, cleaning care tips, etc). It also has a section where users can submit their own stories on their favorite pieces of jewelry. I found this quite intriguing at first because I hadn’t come across any other sites that offered such highly personalized sections before. Ultimately, this “shared stories” section motivated me to post my story for others to see! It’s nice to know others appreciate the same things I do, and it’s helpful to read others’ stories as well! I can honestly say now, that JIC is my go-to jewelry resource – it’s personable, full of information and jewelry ideas and more. I advise you all to give it a try.
If that doesn’t totally sell you on it, also know that there’s a sweepstakes going on through the end of the month: submit your story, be entered into a contest to win a diamond necklace. Don’t mind if i do!
Best!
