From Russia with Tough Love is an excellent DVD, as well as conditioning philosophy. Much of the foundation of the Baghdad Hardbody rogram comes from the teachings of Pavel.

Kettlebell training is another great tool to add to the tool box. I think, in a perfect world, if you combine kettlebells, bodyweight exercises, bands and pulleys, medicine and stability balls and dumbbells you'll have the perfectly well-rounded strength routine (notice I didn't include machines, which are limited in scope and usefulness). Of course, combining all of these things can be tricky, complicated and require a lot of forethought and planning (and TIME), but it would be very well-rounded. I don't have any argument with back to back training days if you're doing full body or compound exercises. If you're doing isolated movements or single joint movements with machines you're probably tearing down the individual muscles enough that they need more recovery time, but I think we're all better off staying away from that kind of training anyway (I got rid of all of the fixed motion machines at my training studio and only use the tools I listed above; MUCH better). As for diet, as much as we're looking for new and innovative formulas for success, the best approach is the oldest one; eat clean, healthy foods and stay within your calorie threshold. Love your spirit and willingness to experiment, keep it up.

(P.S. I also love Yoga, Pilates, hiking, cycling, swimming, martial arts, etc., etc., etc.. The point is, it's all good stuff and it all works if you do it in combination and consistently. There's no ONE system that is clearly superior to the next, just be ACTIVE)
