Today, we all played hooky! My children and I took a “ski school day” applicably named by my oldest. Four feet of fresh snow, clear skis, temps in the 50′s, it was a perfect day for cross country skiing. I love cross country skiing for the high calorie burning opportunity, along with the being out in nature, having fun with my family, etc…Not sure, but, I think the kids had more fun “sledding on their butts” down the podium hill than actually skiing!
Note to self: healthy snacks for the family only lasted one hour!! Must pack three times the amount to keep them out of the AM/PM Mini-mart snacking on crap.

In other news, back in January, I wrote about my 2009 goals (link). I’m very excited to share that I met one of those goals today when Athleta Chi posted an article written by me!!!
What are your plans for the weekend? What goals are you working on right now?

What a great day! I am looking forward to when my kids are old enough to go cross country skiing.

Great article! I love Athleta. I order my swimsuits from them every year and I live in their built-in bra tanks at the gym (you can put them in the DRYER).
Congrats on achieving one of your goals!

I think I need to move to California! I would love to be in shorts in LA in the morning and out cross country skiing in the afternoon – you have the best of both worlds.
The kids here actually have ski days where the whole school goes skiing. In Gunnison they have about 4 or 5 five a year and in Crested Butte they have more.
Also in Crested Butte you have to watch the older kids (and adults) who play hookey on the power days!

I forgot to say congrats on hitting one of your HUGE goals for 2009. That is wonderful. I read the article super quick and loved it. I also bookmarked the sight to go back later when I have more than 2 minutes – it looks like a great sight.

Thanks! My kids are young still. One is almost 3 and one is 5. They last only one hour or so, but are content to play in the snow after that!
