I've heard about women-specific protein powders, but I very highly doubt I'd ever bother with one (unless it was given to me for free or something). I'm drinking protein shakes for the protein, after all...

I've seen several women have bad reactions to soy protein isolate and its estrogen effects. It's something I specifically avoid when looking at ingredient lists. Whole soy foods don't usually cause any problems, but big doses of soy protein isolate several times a day can cause crazy hormonal issues such as bloating, breast tenderness, hot flashes, mood swings and weight gain.

A woman on one of my fitness groups was having such weird symptoms while using soy protein isolate, she thought she was pregnant. Her doctor (after ruling out pregnancy) told her to stop using soy protein powder and all of the symptoms subsided.

Experiences like that make me wary of "girl" protein with lots of soy and random herbs. St. John's Wort can interfere with the effectiveness of birth control pills, for example. I would definitely pass.

I'm right there with you on wanting a protein that isn't full of artificial things or too many extra sugars.

If the ingredients really do make a difference for women, then I have no problem with a gender-specific protein. But if it's purely marketing mumbo-jumbo... that's sad. But those things sell because many people don't care enough to look into what they're consuming!

I don't feel like their website is designed very well, I wanted to see a list of the nutrition panel, ingredients, etc. Oh... and I don't like the name 'Tight Curves'. :-) It's not like the only reason to work out and watch what you consume is appearances.

My bad--I confused Kristal Richardson w/Jennifer Nicole Lee before! Regardless, I agree with previous poster that it will sell--in large part to its spokesperson. Personally, I take protein supplements for just that--protein. When I need something more due to aging or medical issues, I would think I would go with my doctor's recommendation based on where I needed a specific boost in my levels. Make sense? Good post..
