Recently, in this post, I described my wishes for a job bra that would also accommodate my heart rate monitor. I use a Polar Heart Rate monitor that has a hard plastic strap. I slip this strap under my jog bra and I’m off! This has always been a problem on any run or ride longer than an hour. Particularly when I’m running the sweat, strap and jog bra have caused horrible welts/blisters/chaffing on my chest.
Running and cycling are the two times that I always wear a heart rate monitor. Monitoring my heart rate tells me how my body is functioning at that moment. Spin classes lately have simply been about spinning my legs “out” and I want to keep my heart rate way below aerobic. For me, that would be 120-130. For interval work on the track or out on the streets, my heart rate is usually between 160-180 depending on my effort, sleep, stress and other factors. It is an indication of many factors and it helps me determine how to gauge my fitness levels.

I am very excited to say that NuMetrex has found a solution to my problem! Superior moisture wicking fabric that offers great coverage and support while not “smashing” your cleavage. Slip the transmitter in place, put the bra on and you are ready to go. Had no problem activating my watch to the transmitter. The transmitter did not rub, chaff, or bug me at all. Fantastic training device that I highly recommend! This bra was just featured on the today show with our very own Leslie Goldman from the Weighting Game!! (Very funny blogger/writer- you should check it out!)
NuMetrex heart monitoring apparel features special sensing fibers that are knit directly into the fabric. Just pull on your NuMetrex sports bra, snap in the tiny transmitter and view your heart rate data on a compatible watch or cardio machine. NuMetrex garments are also compatible with the Polar WearLink transmitter and all Polar watches as well as most gym quality cardio equipment.
Note to all you large breasted women- this bra is great for low to medium activities. You MIGHT need additional support if your planning on running a marathon in it. NuMetrex has designed a soft, textile strap to use under the jog bra for additional support. Some women may also choose to wear two jog bras with the NuMetrex on top. You can purchase your very own NuMetrex jog bra combo here.

NuMetrex is giving one away to one of you wonderful readers!!
Simply post a comment about your current fitness routines and how a heart rate monitor could improve your training. Winner will be announced on this site on July 19th. Retail value of the combo package is $100. Winner must provide a U.S. Mailing address and reply to email within 24 hours.

I’m training for a half marathon. I was in great shape, but then got pregnant and had a baby… got out of any routine! (plus run my own business, I’m busy like every woman) So now I’m trying anything and everything to motivate me to reach the goal… Thanks for the opportunity.

I’m currently doing power yoga twice a week, aerobics twice a week, and working with my trainer twice a week. I have also found a group that hikes in the mountains ridiculously early in the mornings, and have been joining them once a week. this hiking stuff is by FAR the hardest of the group. I’m panting and trudging along on the way up. I feel like a heart monitor might be a very good idea – if only to assure me that I’m NOT going overboard here. (And if I am, to keep me IN the proper range.)

I’ve never had a heart rate moniter but I think it would help me to improve my level of fitness when I run.

I have been running 3 miles and walking 2 miles per day. I am training slowly to build up to running 5 miles per day. I could sure use a heart monitor to keep track of my heart rate and make sure my pace is on target. This would be an excellent tool to help me in my running! Fitness is very important to me. Thanks for a great giveaway!

I have tried to monitor my own heart rate, but try while trying to keep form on the treadmill it is near impossible! My current routine, is walking the dogs fast pace, 4 miles, at a hilly terrain park(hard to find here!) and strength training with bands and weights 3 days a week. and I work in yoga 2 times a week. great contest!

25 Kimberly // Jul 12, 2008 at 12:41 pm
I work out at the gym 6 days a week. So on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday I do full body workouts that are circuit. I usually strenght train on those days for about 45 minutes. And on Tuesday and Thursday I walk on a treadmill at 12% incline at a fast rate for 45 minutes. On Sundays I meet up with a friend who also has kids and we run the bleachers and do sprints around the local school track. That usually takes about 2 hours. I really could use a monitor not only to tell me to stop talking to my gym buddies in the middle of my whole body workout but to also tell me when I am going a little overboard on my treadmill /track workouts.
Thanx for the contest.

Exercise has always been so important to me. I’ve lived an athletic and fit life. In January, I had my third baby. Three weeks later I developed severe complications (placenta had been left, I severely hemorraged and was found unconscious by my husband on our bathroom floor. I was ambulanced back to the hospital, went through a surgery, blood transfusion, a lengthy stay, and instead of the typical get the okay to exercise after 6 weeks, I did not get it until 5 months — just a few weeks ago. My muscle tone is virtually gone! I am ready to begin again both for myself and for my daughters. The heart rate monitor would be enormously helpful in keeping track as I develop my strength and start anew after months of severaly low energy and not being able to be at all active. I want to be sure to not push but to start back up in a healthy way and this monitor would allow me to do just that. I want to be healthy for me and set a great example for my three young daughters. I’d so appreciate this tool to help me accomplish just that!

I have been walking both outdoors and on my treadmill to lose weight (20lbs so far) and to lower blood pressure (down 30points!).
The heart rate monitor on my treadmills scares me to death. One minute it will say my heart rate is 54, then 120 and then throw in a random 254! I kid you not, I panicked when I saw that and shut the treadmill down, even though I KNOW my heart was beating that fast!
I need a good reliable heart rate monitor. (seriously!)

I can honestly say I have never monitored my heart rate before but with numerous new cases of heart disease in the women of my family, it would probably be a good thing to start doing. I think it would also help me actually work at the rate I need to in order to lose weight.

We recently got a treadmill, which I have been using, but I hate the strap that came with it to monitor heart rate, so I just refuse to use it. As a result, I am getting a workout, but I really have no idea if I am maintaining or even achieving my target heart rate for any amount of time. Something more comfortable to use would really be a help in this area.

Oh my gosh!! I so need a heartrate monitor. My husband is a huge cyclist and I’m trying to get more into it (had always been a runner in the past, but my knees are giving me trouble). I’m on a biking plan for this summer, and we bought a stationary for rainy/winter days. However, I need the heartrate monitor to complete my workouts and help me be more efficient. I KNOW there are times I think I’m going hard (or tell myself I’m going hard), but in reality, with the heartrate facts infront of me, I should be giving it some extra ‘umph’. Sometimes, we all need a kick in the pants! Hopefully, I’ll get this body back into shape!

I so need this bra. I have been running since the middle of May. I have been pushing myself really far, but sometimes I don’t think that I push hard enough. I would love to have this Bra and Heart Monitor so that I can tell myself see your heart rate is really not that much keep going, or you have to slow down so that you don’t kill over. I am not overweight but I am loosing baby weight that has held on for over 2 years. I want to get pregnant again but I don’t want to add on 5 lbs every child that I have. It will add up really quick. Please help me!
121 Melissa // Jul 14, 2008 at 3:51 pm
I do a 10-minute workout with a jump rope every night, in addition to a 30- to 45-minute walk daily. This would really help me, because I need a better sports bra, plus I generally have no idea what my heart rate is and whether I am working at a high enough intensity.

I have originally gone from 200lbs to 120lbs. After starting my new career and finding myself stuck behind a desk about 15 pounds have managed to creep back on.
How did this weight originally come off? CARDIO ladies, CARDIO! Running, biking, swimming when its too hot and humid, surfing and running stairs. This heart rate monitor would really help me get back onto my fitness track! (Plus less bounce on the boobies is always VERY helpful when running in public!!!)

I found your website through metropolitian mama – and I will bookmark it. I am struggling to get back into a workout routine. I have a 5 month old and a 3 year old and I work full time. I have been using my lunch hour to work out but that has not been working so well lately. I want to get back into the routine of running on my lunch hours and I REALLY need to find time to get some weight training in – not too happy with the post baby flab.
We did sell one of our cars so I ride my bike to work every day, 4.2 miles round trip – that is the only consistent excerise I am doing lately.

Since my father passed away, I’ve started walking with my Mom to keep her occupied a few days a week. Though she was never into exercise in the past, both of us have found these walks wonderfully relaxing. So what I would do is keep the jog bra (because I always need those) and present the heart monitor to my Mom who has had some issues with her heart during the past year. I think just having a monitor would help her relax into a more comfortable routine during our treks!

226 vanessa hunter // Jul 18, 2008 at 2:03 pm
I’m fat. I need help. Worried about my high blood pressure. This sure would come in handy. Don’t want to have a stroke while I’m on the treadmill.
227 danielle // Jul 18, 2008 at 2:07 pm
I walk everywhere. I would like to start jogging so the heart moniter would be perfect.
228 Jennifer Hamilton // Jul 18, 2008 at 2:46 pm
My husband and I have been doing the P90X workouts for about a month now to get in shape and there are so many workouts where a heart rate monitor would be so beneficial!!
229 Terri L // Jul 18, 2008 at 3:22 pm
I started a walking program and this would help me to make sure that my outside and inside walks are similar in intensity!
230 Bambi Flowers // Jul 18, 2008 at 4:19 pm
I’m just getting started exercising again and this bra looks like it would really help in comfort area of exercising.
231 RYAN D // Jul 18, 2008 at 4:27 pm
me and my wife are both in the army, we’re leaving for iraq soon i think this would help her to stay alert of her health while keeping in shape in the hot desert. thanks
232 Melissa Resnick // Jul 18, 2008 at 4:58 pm
I don’t use anything, so a heart monitor would let me exercise and be safe with my heat rate.

Hi there! It is great to see how everyone posting here is working out! Truly, exercise is what keeps us not only healthy physically, but healthy emotionally! My work out routine varies, but 2 constants for me are Yoga, which I do in the comfort of our home, and I run about 6 miles 4 times a week. I have a specific path that I run and a routine that I go through before running, which is stretching, and after running, which is warming down, and having a heart rate monitor will allow me to kick up my routine a notch because I will gain a better understanding of where I stand while running, and can gauge subtle increases to step it up to the next level! I feel incredibly guilty when I don’t workout, so I have been consistent without skipping a beat for the past 2 years. Working out keeps me not only grounded, but looking and feeling great! Best of luck to everyone in your workout endeavors and thank you for offering this amazing giveaway!

I need to get my blood presure lower according to my dr. This would help me moniter my progress.
235 Susanne Troop // Jul 18, 2008 at 5:55 pm
I don’t have a fitness routine but I need to get out and get one so this would be an incentive to get off the couch!
236 Jennifer Schroeder // Jul 18, 2008 at 6:11 pm
I am trying to break back into my fitness routine that once involved running about three miles four times a week. It’s always so hard to get back into running and this would be so helpful in making sure that I’m not overexerting myself too soon which could cause injury or make me abandon my running once again.
237 Gianna // Jul 18, 2008 at 6:30 pm
I’m looking for some encouragement
238 TANYA // Jul 18, 2008 at 6:32 pm
The farthest I can run now is about 3 miles, but I’d like to do a 10K this fall. I’m trying to do interval training, and this device would really help me step it up. And probably help me from going to fast and therefore haveing to stop because my heart is racing!
239 Janet // Jul 18, 2008 at 6:36 pm
I walk but not much!
240 mary // Jul 18, 2008 at 7:17 pm
Time to get fit!
241 Sylvia Porter // Jul 18, 2008 at 7:23 pm
this would be great, i always lose count when i have to count myself. I do dance aerobics, and i like it a lot.
242 Susan // Jul 18, 2008 at 7:37 pm
I need motivation and this would help.
243 Kelly // Jul 18, 2008 at 7:42 pm
Because I’m just starting out with keeping fit, I would love to be able to carefully monitor my heart rate activity.
244 Sand // Jul 18, 2008 at 8:50 pm
In my struggle to loose weight I have to find and work out at my target heart rate and this would help me attain just that.
245 Janene Grace // Jul 18, 2008 at 9:15 pm
I did not know this existed. I have heart spasms and need to closely monitor my excersize. This is IDEAL
246 Chris // Jul 18, 2008 at 9:15 pm
Awesome!
247 Danielle // Jul 18, 2008 at 10:04 pm
I just started working out for the first time in my life and between the overload of fitness info on the web and the often times unreliability of the equipment at the gym, it’s hard to know how many calories I’m really burning. With a heartrate moniter it would make things much easier, and having an extra new sports bra to boot would really make my day!
248 Rebecca Weinstein // Jul 18, 2008 at 10:20 pm
This would help me monitor my level of exertion to motivate me on days when I am feeling sluggish, and confirm to myself that I am working hard enough on days when I want to do too much.
249 Chivy // Jul 18, 2008 at 10:37 pm
I dont run or anything but would start if I was to win this
250 Heather // Jul 18, 2008 at 10:42 pm
Twice a week I walk two miles (race walk speed) with my baby on my back in an Ergo Baby Carrier while my older kids do swimming lessons and twice a week I run on my treadmill while Dad holds down the fort. As my kids get older I hope to run more! I would LOVE to win this to help me maximize the time I do have to exercise, with four kids it is few and far between!
251 Dave K // Jul 18, 2008 at 10:43 pm
My wife has three 1/2 marathons in August, so this would be perfect for her!!
252 Bes // Jul 18, 2008 at 10:50 pm
I like to run on the treadmill but I tend to sweat a lot and it’s hard to find a whole package that would be comfortable and also accurate at the same time. I’m really interested in seeing how well this will work and if it will be comfortable and won’t interfere with my workouts!
253 Juliette J // Jul 18, 2008 at 11:46 pm
I bike to work everyday, and then I hit the gym for free weights!
254 Robert Abramson // Jul 19, 2008 at 12:31 am
I would like to win not for myself , but to give it to a women who has a heart condition and has to work out three times a week to stay healthy . She had a stint put in to open a blockage and has an exercise regimine she is required to do.

256 Erica G // Jul 19, 2008 at 1:20 am
I just received the all clear from the doctor after the delivery of my baby. I haven’t been able to exercise in so long, the heart rate monitor would really help me know how hard my body is working.
257 Donna Vance // Jul 19, 2008 at 2:06 am
I recently started doing the aerobics on the Wii Fit program since it’s too hot here to do anything outside right now. A heart rate monitor would be great so I know if I am in the target range.
258 Marie N // Jul 19, 2008 at 2:14 am
This is such a great item. I’ve been attempting a walk/run routine for the past two months in order to lose some of the weight I put on during the past year ie. too many goodies, and this would give me the confidence that I’m 1) in the right heart range and 2) not overdoing it. Love the technology and even crazier about the Razzleberry in comes in along with the other great colors.
259 Pamela White // Jul 19, 2008 at 2:43 am
i jog with my dogs and have little time and become entangled in leads when i stop to check my heart rate so this bra will help me keep my heart rate up.
260 Danielle // Jul 19, 2008 at 3:13 am
I’d actually know if I was walking fast enough to do me any good.
261 Veronica Garrett // Jul 19, 2008 at 3:23 am
I jog three times a week and do aerobics two times. A heart monitor would allow me to focus on my fitness goals without worrying aabout whether I am over extending myself.
262 Peggy Gorman // Jul 19, 2008 at 4:41 am
I am into aerobics and this is such a neat find.I don’t have a heart monitor and this would make sure I am keeping my heart rate at the pace it should be. Count me in to win this great prize
263 Stephanie // Jul 19, 2008 at 5:12 am
I am constantly running. Im on summer vacation right now, and am training to join the cross-counrty team this coming year. This would help out a lot.
264 Jacqueline Carpenter // Jul 19, 2008 at 12:56 pm
I need this desperately
I walk everyday and I hate some of those exercise bras and never let me see a bra with a wire, heavens no.
I have MS so my exercise is not to the extreme but I sure could use these products.
Thanks for a great contest.
265 Zoey Smith // Jul 19, 2008 at 6:07 pm
I try to make good use of my gym membership. On Monday, it is a step class; Tuesday – Body works; Wednesday off to aqua-fit I go; Thursday – Body Works one more time. I spend Friday on the cross trainer. The weekends are reserved for hiking with my husband.
I could really use that heart monitor to make sure I reach my target of 130!
266 L McLendon // Jul 20, 2008 at 12:29 am
Due to health issues, I am limited in exercise options but even with walking I could sure use
this tool to better my fitness and fitness plan!
Thanks for the opportunity to win it!

i run about 4 miles a day and this would really be great
268 Patti // Oct 22, 2008 at 7:49 pm
I run about 5 miles a day. This would be perfect for when I’m trying to up my training a little bit. I also do yoga in the evenings to calm myself down for sleep. Love it!

my sister-in-law would really love this because she is training for a marathon…
271 Rachel // Oct 22, 2008 at 10:35 pm
I already have a heart rate monitor that I use but I always seem to mess with it because it isn’t placed right when I am running. I think this is genius! The hrm’s help me workout in my target zone and push myself in my workouts.

My routine is a mixture of working out at home and at the gym…the machines at the gym have unreliable heart rates on them…this would give me a better idea of what it really is.

I workout on the machines at the gym 5 days a week and I look at the heart rate but I’ve always heard that it isn’t a very accurate measurement. If I won this contest, I would know the full benefit of my workout.
274 Stacy // Oct 23, 2008 at 2:05 am
a few times a week on an elliptical could be kicked up with this.
