Thanks for your last couple of posts - they've been timely for me since I'm thinking of buying a new bike. I currently have an old Trek mountain bike, but it gets very little use.

I'm trying to decide between getting a mountain bike or a road bike...I really would like both though! Any thoughts on bikes in the $800 - $1000 range?
