As you say $500 is a good budget, but a $1000 bike will definitely not ride twice as better than a bike of half the price. Marginal returns are decreasing as price increases! We took a ride together on our bikes. I now own a VERY STYLISH " townie". I Love that I can ride with my kids for a short distance. I look forward to many future rides together.
