I’m inspired…

Ever since I read Marathon Woman by Kathrine Switzer, I’ve dreamed about the Boston Marathon. Last Monday was the 2008 race, which I missed due to vacation, but thanks to You Tube, I got to watch snippets. Who watched it??? Anyone else inspired to qualify for Boston? Workout Mommy or Faster Running what are your marathon goals?

Also, enjoyed this interview with Kristin and Lance Armstrong here. Kristin is my hero! Her word to describe running is “clean”. A good run will make you feel clean, exhausted, happy, proud, spent, calm.

Readers, what’s your word to describe running?

For your viewing pleasure, you can watch the exciting last mile of the women’s marathon here.

I decided on Monday that I would run Boston next year. I probably won’t be able to qualify, so I will run for a charity…but that’s ok, it will be for a good casue & I FINALLY will run Boston! Wanna do Boston with me?
Oh, and Workout Mommy has a marathon secret…Shhhh! :)

I’ve ran 3 marathons and the closest I came to qualifying was a 4:06 26 min too slow to qualify :( My kiddos are super young (2 yrs and 9 mos) so I have no desire to try to qualify for many years. At this point in time family is more important to me, though I do continue to run (half-marathons), go to “diaper fit” (water aerobics class with the baby) and strollerfit.

Hmmm – a word to describe running…I’m having a “brain freeze.” Important, healthy, exhilarating, and relational all come to mind.

Speaking of marathons, I just got “The NonRunner’s Marathon Guide for Women” (by Dawn Dais) in the mail today. Have you read it?

hey, she outed me! :) no secrets here…I’m an open book. lol!

I loved the Kristin/Lance interview. I think it is great they are such good friends—maybe they’ll give each other another chance? :)

Running to me is absolute therapy.

I’m running the Colfax Half Marathon in May and the New York Marathon in November. I’m really excited about NY – I haven’t done a marathon in quite a while.

I got to my computer last Sunday just in time to see the last couple of miles – what a fabulous race! I was particularly inspired by Joan Samuelson – a 2:49 at age 50. Truly amazing.

My word to describe running – bliss. It keeps me relaxed and gives me a wonderful feeling of accomplishment.

I love running but right now my word description for it would be scary. I’m afraid to start running again. Hopefully tomorrow.

@Stephanie – I love that book! I used it as a guide for my first marathon and it was a tremendous help!

@Workout Mommy – I’m sorry, i’m a big mouth, but I’m just so excited for you!

@Kch – I am sooo jealous about NYC. I am a mahattanite born & raised and have always wanted to run it…Hmmm, now you got me thinking… :)

Great comments! The Non Runner’s Marathon Trainer by Whitsett was exceptionally helpful for a first time marathoner. Would love to read the women’s guide.
Yes, I’d love to see them get back together. It’s obvious that they have love for each other.
Just got back from a 9 miler with 10 women. Very inspiring and motivating to run with such a big group.

PP- are there any running groups in your area that you could run with??? Might make it less scary.

    @ Fit Mommy – That’s the book I meant I read! duh.
@Stephanie – sorry was reading your comment during class when I should have been paying attention. Haven’t read that one (similar names), but it looks awesome, just ordered it :)

My word? Exhilirating. No matter how I feel before a run, post-run makes me feel invincible.
