Everybody should have a Fuelbelt!

April 24th, 2008 · 131 Comments

A letter to all you runners out there:

outdoor_landing.jpg

I strongly urge you to carry water with you on every run. Coach Al says that a 2% drop in hydration can lead to a decrease in performance. As runners, you need to be drinking all day long as well as before, during and after your runs. An increase in your hydration can improve performance, revive tired looking skin, wake up your brain, and hydrate all your internal organs.

Before the introduction of Fuelbelt to my daily runs, I never carried water. During the three marathons that I’ve completed, I used inferior hydration packs- which lead to BLISTERS and SCARS on my hips and back from chaffing. One I purchased strictly for a trail marathon has not EVER been used again. Barely got the water out of the bladder months later..ended up in a garage sale.

I am VERY excited to be sharing the amazing products that Fuelbelt has to offer. Fuelbelt has products for your music carrier, your dog, walking excursions, triathlons, high visibility gear, running, and endurance sports…anywhere you might carry a water bottle, you can have a Fuelbelt that is right for your needs. For us women, they even come in PINK!

Lisa Bentley

“My Fuel Belt is an essential part of my racing and training gear. Leaving home without it on a long run would be like driving without a seatbelt or cycling without a helmet. Why run with the unnecessary risk of bonking when I can carry my nutrition needs comfortably in my Fuel Belt.”

- 5x Ironman Australia Champion, 3rd Place Ironman World Championships

For runs under 5 miles, I carry the Sprint Palm Holder. It’s a cute little pink bottle that I strap on my wrist and it is SO PERFECT. I drink a little bit every few minutes. The strap does not bother me and it’s easily accessible.

10oz_sprint_palmholder_pink.jpg

On hour long runs or more, I have been using the Crush Belt which I love as well. Mainly, because of the closure around my waist; there’s a about a 4 inch strip of Velcro to tighten or loosen as needed. It also has a cute little triangular pocket for my keys, cell phone or gel. What was great about it was that it didn’t bounce around on my back and it was easy to get the bottle out whenever I needed it.

Fuelbelt has many great products in their catalog. I’ve also been enjoying the “fuelbox” for my bike. It straps directly to the top tube and stem and I can keep the lip gloss, phone and keys for my rides around town. The box is intended for long rides on the bike and easy access to food, which I think is great!

JUST FOR YOU READERS!!

FUELBELT has graciously offered to give away a crush belt! Great for all endurance sports as well as around town on a hot day! Retail Value is $30. Simply post a comment about your running or fitness goals and you will be entered to win. Winner will be chosen at random on April 28th at 9pm PST.

Fuelbelts are awesome! I ran with one pre-kids that no longer fits my post-kids hips. (sigh)
I really missed it in my most recent race, so I could definitely use a new one. I plan to run more races this summer, and will need to stay hydrated. Thanks!

Oooh first one up! I heart the pink crush belt!

My running goal is to do a half mary…maybe in September. Definitely in January. I used to run 3 miles a day. Then I stopped. So I am again starting from scratch. But I’m loving every minute of it.

My fitness goal is to compete in my first triathlon this August. I have been trying to get my pace back both in the pool and on the track after giving birth to my daughter in September ’07. Thank you for a great give-away!

I have two major goals for the year: (1) Colfax Half Marathon next month and (2) New York Marathon in November. I haven’t run a marathon since ’94 so the second goal will be particularly challenging!

  • 26 Jeff S. Stinson // Apr 25, 2008 at 12:58 am

The Crush Belt is a great item that I was previously unfamiliar with (until I saw this contest). I’m a guy, but am very confident in my masculinity – so the pink color wouldn’t crimp my style at all. :-) I would definitely wear it during my evening jogs. I’ve been working on losing weight over the last two months, and would love not to have to carry the water bottle I bring with me. Although I am not a mommy, I know that my mom supports my goals to lose weight and would love it if I won something that would assist me. Thanks so much!

  • 27 Marissa // Apr 25, 2008 at 1:24 am

This looks great, I need this as I train for my 5K… not too long of a runner, but it feels long for someone like me who isn’t a runner!

  • 28 Aimee // Apr 25, 2008 at 1:46 am

What a great product! I had a long, difficult pregnancy and recovery. Instead of getting the okay on exercise at 6 weeks, complications led me to just getting the okay at 3 months. My goals are to run at least 5 days a week, building up on distance, endurance and speed. I’d like to train so that I can, within a year, complete a half marathon. (and haoping to do some 5K’s, etc. in the meantime — as well as the race for St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital in December. This products would be fabulous for the new training routine!

  • 29 Sandra // Apr 25, 2008 at 1:56 am

Boy, could I use this! I am just beginning with running.

  • 30 Teri Meairs // Apr 25, 2008 at 2:03 am

I am on a treatment right now that prevents me from my usual routine. I live at the beach, so I just walk as far as I can. I am supposed to drink 14 lge glassses of water a day. Not so hard, since the meds keep me parched. This belt is perfect.

  • 31 Zarah // Apr 25, 2008 at 2:07 am

This would be too perfect. I started running on the treadmill this Winter, so this will be my first Summer in the heat. I could really use something like this (and the Pink is too awesome for words).

  • 32 Katherine Newton // Apr 25, 2008 at 2:16 am
