Today, I woke up too early.
Mood? Grouchy.
I had a running group meetup at 6AM. My little team is now not so little. We are 7 and growing by the week. I am responsible for the coordinating the workouts. As I drove to the track, all I could think about was “I have to do this, this, this, this, tired, negative, negative, blah, blah……you get it?” As soon as I dropped my keys and started running, all the negative energy completely LEFT my brain. You just can’t keep dwelling on the negative when you’re out running or cycling! I was smiling, joking, attempting “pep talks” and enjoying the hard workout. As I sit here writing this, I am at least calm, clear headed, and ready for the day.
I urge you to get outdoors and run, ride, swim, walk, skip, whatever! You will feel better about life after a workout.

I love this entry! I have found the same thing in running. DH comes home and I get ready to go out for a run. I am not in the mood at all to push myself. But once I’m out there and definitely once I get home – I feel a thousand times better!

I did this same thing yesterday. I came home from a long day at work, sat down on the couch, and told my husband I did not want to run at all. I laid down and took a 15 minute nap and planned to do nothing active all night. When I woke up, I decided to just go for it. I put on my shoes, grabbed my IPOD and ran out the door. As soon as I started running I felt great. I won’t lie and say I felt great at the end of the run, but it was a great feeling nonetheless.

I need a running group too. There are some by me but they’re way more advanced than I’d like. Intimidating.
But I’m so with you on running. No matter what my mood, once I hit the pavement, it’s all about ME. Now that’s peace.
