Must haves for the gym bag

My days revolve around when I get a workout, not IF I am going to get a workout. Over the last few years of child rearing and phys ed teaching, I’ve got a few MUST HAVES in my bag at all times. I do make an attempt to be stylish, however, my style is NOT off the cover of Instyle Magazine. Rather, it’s more functional style. If I get peanut butter on my shirt, will I be devastated or just put out. So, with that in mind, here are my live or die by products always in my bag.1. STYLISH BAG.Two babies, one bag, no excuses. Juggling multiple bags, holding hands of two kids, plus keys and sunglasses makes for a nightmare. Sherpani has some really sweet messenger style bags that have lots of compartments, water bottle holder, diapers, etc… Road Runner carries the Trevina Shoulder bag but I’d probably prefer the gym/yoga messenger bag on the Sherpani site. I’ve still got to hold on to both kids, so a messenger bag will work better for me.2. TONERA good toner can be a great all purpose facial cleaner on the go. Toners (high quality) can remove excess sweat, grime, and leftover makeup. After spin class I give myself two spritzes a quick towel off and I’m ready for the usual errands- store, bank, gas. No need or time for showers…my time is limited! I prefer RE 9 toner by Arbonne which has a faint smell of citrus to rejuvenate the skin.3 . SUNSCREENSunscreen is a must and it’s NOT negotiable, however, nobody likes putting it on sweaty skin. My usual routine is SWEAT first, cool down, spray toner, apply sunscreen. Depending on the day, I will use at least SPF 8 or SPF 30 if the park is in the plans. I’ve read/heard skincare experts say something like 60 seconds in the sun can result in sun damage. Again, my favorite is called Damage Control, SPF 30 by Arbonne. This is the best sunscreen I’ve ever used. Offers great coverage without feeling heavy, absorbs quickly, non-greasy, and non-pore clogging.   It is an athlete’s dream sunscreen.

4. HEADBANDIf you’re going to the gym- you better be sweating. So much that you need something for your hair. Stylish hair at the gym is never going to happen so you might as well get a decent headband and be done with it. Reversible headbands by Prana are my current favorite for the gym. Mildly stylish, absorbs sweat, and transitions to the outside world perfectly. My spin teacher looks great in these hats, too!5. JACKETFinally, some form of a cover-up jacket, long shirt, goes over your swanky, workout top. I prefer hip length jackets or hoodies and this one by Lole is beautiful. What did I forget? What’s in your gym bag?

Gym bag? Um…I don’t have one. When I workout, I just put on my workout clothes and tennies, grab a key, put my daughter in the jogger, and we’re out the door for a run. :)
