Question for you:
Shape Magazine seems to be a good source of information on fitness, health, style, food choices, etc.. I refer to it often. I’d consider myself a regular reader, however, I have some issues with it. Primarily, skinny, gorgeous cover girl on the front in bikini- is not what most of us look like- so why do we have to look at her all month on the shelves? Also, why does Hostess Cup Cakes get an ad right next to healthy eating choices in Shape Magazine. In all their articles on healthy food choices, I’ve never seen them say, “eat a hostess muffin for breakfast!” What is nutritious about it? Is this a fruit? Is it a vegetable? Are their any whole grains or fiber in them? High Fructose Corn Syrup?
This is not a healthy food choice.
“100 calories, 3 muffins, Real Satisfaction”. Serving Size 3 Muffins, Servings per container 6. Muffins come in boxes of 6. Calories 100 for 3. Why aren’t the ingredients listed on the website?

Readers: What are your suggestions for healthy snacks? Do you think this is a good food choice?

Great points! I’d like to see Shape Magazine and other women’s magazines “shape up” when it comes to advertising. Advertising should support the messages of the magazine, not contradict them. Kiwi Magazine is an excellent example of a magazine that understands this concept. Their magazine is all about healthy, organic, and green living – and their advertising compliments their purpose. More magazines should follow suit…

Junk food rarely is a good substitute for a piece of fruit, or other healthy snack.
