Interview with Kimberly Bonadio
My boys are 4 and almost 2 and are incredibly ACTIVE. I’m constantly struggling to maintain my sanity just going out. Benjamin has “blue fire shoes” and has a thing about running everywhere. Ryan does everything that Benjamin does. The YMCA is one of our main stomping grounds and I seriously have to HOLD BOTH KIDS HANDS with a vice grip to keep them from running half mile away from me on the way to the car. The workout at the YMCA is the easy part. The rest of the day is a juggle.
My first introduction to these tank tops was by my friend Tammy who sold them on her website. I bought two on the spot. I love them. But it’s more than that. It’s empowering. It’s a feel good message and I can smile when I’m out. I can even smile when I’m frustrated, tired, and worn out, because, you know, MOMS ROCK. Many mothers feel the same way I do and they’ve shared their stories on the website as well. You can read them here.
I already had GREAT feelings about these tanks when I approached Kimberly Bonadio for an interview.
What inspired you to design these shirts?
I was reading an article in O Magazine about how smart, career oriented women who have kids suddenly find themselves on a new path in life. The article went on to say that Moms who choose to give up, in some cases high paying high powered jobs to stay home with their children or even Moms who choose to work part-time, our culture tends to put them in a container and label them “Just a Mom” – the idea was sparked immediately- Kimberly thought to herself – “Just a Mom’ I don’t think so”. While waiting to pick up her boys at the bus stop, she began to sketch the logo and write down all the “jobs” she could think of that we Moms do each day. It was then that she decided one day she would turn this into a really fun line of tees for us Moms to wear proudly.
How long have you been in business?
Moms Rock will turn one year in March of 2008.
Kimberly’s hope and message.
Her intention with this business is to encourage Moms to recognize what an incredibly honorable, important ‘job’ it is to be raising children- to not buy into the “I should be doing more with my life” and to begin to think about “what will my Legacy be?”- that’s a powerful question to ask oneself. Ultimately our collective goal as Moms is to raise good people- we are so far from “Just Moms” Moms Rock is intended to be a statement not an exclamation point.

is about celebrating the journey of being a Mom
the ups
and the downs
It’s about change
Creating memories
Teaching by example
And learning as we go along
It’s a tremendous opportunity for…
personal growth
Creativity
Opening your heart
Shifting your perspectives
Being inspired
It’s about learning..
what really matters
The gift of time
How to take care of yourself in a way
that ultimately benefits your children, your family
It’s about remembering what it’s like to be a child
Fun, free and silly
What felt good.. and sometimes not so good
So you can do it differently
It’s always a work in progress
And the most honorable title you’ll have for and the rest of your life
Ask yourself..
What will your children ask their children about you
What memories do you want to create
Stories to leave behind
Values to teach
Ultimately
What will your legacy be?
