Take care of those girls…

January 16th, 2008 · 5 Comments

Ladies, it’s a fact…Our girls are going to be sagging by the time we’re 40(?)! How many of you suit up for a workout and have to wear two jog bras? Or how many of you got out for a run and realized 2 blocks down the road that the bra you chose to wear is not good for running? I’ve been known to wear two compression bras just to keep everything STILL.

In a recent issue of Women’s Health Magazine (December 2007), researchers tracked 70 women who wore movement sensors while running on a treadmill and found that all women’s breasts bounce when they run- it didn’t matter if they were jogging or sprinting- their boobs were bouncing. “All that action stretches the tissue-making for tender ta-tas- and can cause irreversible sagging. So, whether you’re a brisk walker or a serious runner, wear an encapsulation bra. It’s separate molded cups will keep those sisters still better than a compression bras, which limit only up-and-down movement.” (page 24).

Metropolitan Mama reviewed what I’m sure is the best job bra ever here. Enell seems to be getting great press about their bra and Oprah loves it…But I workout everyday! I cannot buy a $60 bra for each workout!

I checked in with Road Runner Sports and these are a few of the “molded cup” bras that they offer. Prices range from $25-$45. The fit specialist at Road Runner helped me also pick out the best bra based my requirements (NO BOUNCE). Both Road Runner and Activa sell the CWX-108 or CWX-109 molded cup bras that are the best that they have to offer. There is an internal support inside the CW-X bra that provides additional support. When purchasing a high-impact support bra you should plan on buying one with wide straps for additional support and you will want to be able to get in an out of it easily. The CW-X 109 has a zip front and the CW-X 108 has a back closure with straps that are wide to ensure good back support. In addition these bras offer a wicking material called coolmax that will prevent chaffing and sweat marks from starting.

IT IS TIME TO STEP UP TO THE PLATE AND BUY A HIGH QUALITY BRA LADIES!!

As you mentioned, I LOVE the Enell. I’m just an average gal with an average budget, but I like to think of things in terms of return on investment (ROI). If I wear the bra four times a week all year long AND it prevents sagging, $60 doesn’t seem that bad.

I was always the type who always had “more bounce to the ounce” and never ran….ever…because of the bounce. Then I discovered the Enell bra, and if there was ever an article of clothing that changed my life this was it. I can now call myself a runner, and am training for a half marathon–I never thought that would be me. The Enell costs more, but is SOOO worth it to be able to run with no discomfort. I started with just one and rinsed it out after each workout. We are told to not go cheap on running shoes, and I think a good running bra is an equally important investment. I can be frugal with the rest of my running clothes.

I am a big fan of Title Nine Sports and their bras. They have the “Frog Bra”, which prevents any and all bouncing!
