Tips to Improve Cycling Fitness

December 26th, 2007 · No Comments

Graeme Street, Owner of Cyclo-Core, sent me the following “tips and questions to improve cycling fitness” in regards to writing down your goals for 2008. I will be talking more about goal setting here, but I thought these questions were a great place to get started- particularly focusing on your weaknesses!! Graeme has complete cycling programs for the beginner, avid or advanced everyday cyclist. I have watched my husband MASSIVELY improve his cycling over the last few years. This year he will be racing with the BIG DOGS like Thurlow Rodgers and he will be fit enough to complete.

1. What are my cycling and fitness goals for 2008?
TIP: Write them out, specifically! What do you want?? Do
not be vague here. Be specific.
2. What should I do different and what should I do the
same to achieve my goals for 2008?

TIP: Focus on your weaknesses. What are they? List them!
Most cyclists only focus on their strengths. Only when
you focus on the weaknesses, can you begin to improve.

3. Am I currently satisfied with my cycling fitness and
results? If not, what needs to be changed?

TIP: Ask yourself, ‘why do I ride’? If you answer matches
your actions and feelings, you’re doing all right. If not,
you need to re-evaluate why you ride.

4. Is my cycling in balance and if NO, what do I need to
do to begin to balance out my cycling fitness?

TIP: When was the last time you focused on other training
other than the bike? Do you feel in balance??

These are simple, yet powerful questions that will help
you: the Beginner, Avid or Advanced Level Everyday Cyclist
make 2008 exactly the year you hope it to be on your bike!

I encourage you to take the time to answer them and write
these answers down on paper.

Once you do, you will empower yourself to improve!
