If I can squeeze in a 30 minute workout with my baby wandering around the garage, YOU CAN TO!
This is what I do:
First, I save old toys for a special location in the garage. Save these toys for “rediscovery periods” while you do your work in the garage.
Second, play up beat music. My young baby can dance and try to jump with mommy.
Third, be intense and quick. Babies attention span is very short. You need enough toys/distractions for at least a 30 minute workout.
Here is my workout for a rainy day:
Jump Rope 3-5 minutes
Squats, Single Leg Lunges, Standing Foward Bends 20 repetitions for each exercise
Jump Rope 3-5 minutes
Using a medicine ball, complete a minimum of 50 crunches and bicycle leg extensions
Jump Rope 3-5 minutes
Triceps- using a 5-8 pound barbell, hold it with both hands behind head, keeping your elbows close to your ears, extend your arms above head together and then repeat by bending the elbows. Bicep Curls- using a 5-8 pound barbell in each hand, complete 15-20 repetitions of a bicep curl
Jump Rope 3-5 minutes
Repeat Abdominal work using the medicine ball
Jump Rope 3-5 minutes
Deltoids- using your hand weights, hold them down with arms straight and then lift your arms straight up until your elbows are even with your shoulders
Jump Rope 3-5 minutes
At this point, depending on how your child is behaving, you can repeat the whole workout, or you can stop. This is a very HIGH intensity workout but it does work your entire body in a short period of time. A few calorie calculators computed this workout to be around 500 hundred calories, however, when you build muscle mass, you will increase your ability to burn calories throughout the day. A good post workout meal would be a protein shake! This workout could be completed in the house on a rainy day as well.
